Ancestral roots
Trace your lineage through the Qiongya Phua tree — from the founding ancestors who crossed to Hainan to today. Each generation is anchored by a character from the clan's generation poem, so every descendant's place is precise, not approximate.
Ancestral search
Can't find your ancestor?
Search shows only confirmed, public records. If your line isn't there — a spelling variant, an unimported branch, or a gap in the records — tell us what you know and an officer will trace it by hand and reply.
Ancestry enquiries are for signed-in members, so we can verify identity and reply securely (PDPA).
Our founding lineage
The Phua (潘) surname descends from Ji Sun, a son of the house of King Wen of Zhou, enfeoffed at Pan. From Fujian the line moved to Chaozhou, and then to Hainan.
潘朝奉公 — Phua Chao Feng
Late Tang; moved from Fujian to Chaozhou — the Chaozhou founding ancestor.
Four brothers cross to Hainan
万春 · 万秋 · 万里 · 万全 — Wan Chun, Wan Qiu, Wan Li, Wan Quan
The Qiongya Phua lineage begins
From these four brothers the Qiongya (Hainanese) generational order is reckoned.
The clan hall honours an eminent forebear, Pan Cun (潘存, styled Ruchu) — a Wenchang scholar and juren of 1851 — whose portrait hangs at its centre.
The generation poem
Observed by the whole clan. Each character marks one generation, fixing every descendant's place in the lineage.

How data is structured
Decision-tree logic
Generational data is assigned from Zhaomu (昭穆) generation poems. We do not use probabilistic matching — every link is verified.
Deterministic search
Entries must match across multiple historical verification points (name, village, generation) before being displayed.
Data privacy & PDPA
The Genealogy Portal complies with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Full ancestral records, including living descendants, are restricted to verified clan members.
- Public search displays only names, years, and ancestral villages.
- Requests for detailed data require formal identity verification.
- Historical data of deceased individuals is handled with archival dignity.
